What is the difference between a hit and a visitor? A hit is an individual pageview, i.e. if someone visiting your site views 3 pages, Stats4all.com will register 3 hits and 1 visit. A visit is defined as a hit orginating from the same IP-address with a maximum time between two hits of 20 minutes. If a user visits your site in the morning and if that same user visits your site in the evening, this is registered as 2 visits because the visits are more than 20 minutes apart.

If you are only using Stats4all.com on one page and a user hits the reload button than you get more hits than visitors. Also if you put the Stats4all.com script on your main page and the users comes back to this page within 20 minutes then this is not registered as a new visit.
